Members of the COST Action TEATIME (https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA20135/) have compiled the following catalogue of systems and some associated software that are used for the study of mouse and rat behaviour and that fall under our definition of home cage monitoring (https://www.cost-teatime.org/about/hcm- definition). Our aim is to create a useful and accurate resource for people interested in exploring the use of home cages and in general in studying rodents’ behaviour. We would be grateful for any input on its structure and content.
The information provided here is based on the collective knowledge and experience of TEATIME members and other behavioural scientists. While we aim to ensure its accuracy or correctness, it is not exhaustive. Each system may have additional uses or functionalities that are not described here. We welcome corrections or further contributions, please email us using the contact information below.
Experienced users can be contacted if you have any questions on the use of each system. They are generally past members of TEATIME, or people known to TEATIME members, who will give their honest experience using the system. They do not claim to be experts in all aspects of the system. They are volunteers with no commercial interest in that system. Links to suppliers of commercial systems, or the developers of non-commercial systems are available if you want further information on a system.
If you have a HCM/behavioural testing system that you would like to propose for addition to the catalogue, please note that the system should have at least one full publication in a peer-reviewed journal to be eligible for inclusion.
If you have any comments or there are any inaccuracies or omissions or have a system you would like included, please email us at: contact@thebehaviourdatabase.org
